Gourmet Travels – 5 Dining Hotspots That Will Amaze You in Great Falls, Montana

Great Falls, Montana, brings serious flavor to Big Sky Country. This river city blends Western history, wide-open scenery, and a dining scene with more personality than most travelers expect. From chef-driven plates to local favorites worth planning a day around, these Great Falls restaurants prove that good food belongs on the itinerary, not just at the end of it.

As a longtime food and travel writer, I look for places that tell a story through the menu, the setting, and the people behind the plate. These five dining hotspots in Great Falls do exactly that, with enough character to make you linger, order dessert, and start plotting your return before the check arrives.

Great Falls, Montana Dining

Great Falls offers a down‑to‑earth dining scene. While I was only there for two days, I recommend these restaurants.

Coffee

Electric City Coffee – Offers many coffee beverages along with deli breakfast, sandwiches, and salads. When I was there, they had kouign-amann (pronounced “queen ah-MAHN”), a challenging laminated pastry from Brittany, France, known for its buttery, caramelized layers.

When they run out of the pastries, they don’t have any more. So, if you see it in the pastry case, don’t hesitate. The taste sensation is between a croissant and a popover.

Lifestyle Concepts

The Station District – Located next to the Milwaukee Station in Great Falls, The Station District offers downtown lifestyle living with access to four unique restaurant concepts, a full bar, a coffee bistro, a gym, and underground parking.

Dining choices include burgers, authentic Mexican cuisine, Italian favorites with Montana flair, and Pan-Asian bites and bowls. The dining also comes with a view of the Missouri River.

Wine and Cocktails

5th and Wine – Evolved from a hobby business to a thriving wine bar and full-service restaurant in a historic old sheet metal shop and warehouse. Reservations are recommended for weekend brunch and dinner, as it’s relatively small but highly rated.

Enbär – A locally owned craft cocktail lounge featuring Montana spirits and creative food. I enjoyed the Jüniper cocktail so much that I had more than one. Made with Montgomery Distillery Whyte Laydie Gin, fresh blueberries, house-made mint simple syrup & lime juice.

I had a small plate of arancini, which are risotto rice balls coated in breadcrumbs, deep-fried, and covered in red sauce.

Family

Tracy’s Family Restaurant – A long‑time local favorite downtown for all‑day breakfast, big plates of eggs and hash browns, chicken‑fried steak, cinnamon‑roll pancakes, and milkshakes in a casual, historic diner setting.

Popular with families and travelers, it offers both traditional table service and quick counter service. They often have a line of customers out the door waiting for a table, so go early if you can.
