Chef Mac’s Professional Journey
Background & Career Path
- She originally studied art history at Trinity University and explored interior design before discovering her true passion for culinary arts.
- Enrolled in Pima Community College’s culinary program, appreciating its affordability and instruction by local chefs.
- Her first job was with Creative Catering, where she was the longest-serving non-family employee.
- Held several executive chef positions, including at a non-denominational church, 40 Niner Country Club, and Gap Ministries (where she taught culinary skills to individuals facing hardships).
- Started her own macaron business (Chef Mac macarons) while briefly staying home after having her second child.
Professional Growth
- Worked at Miraval Resort, Oprah Winfrey’s favorite spa, and earned three promotions in just over a year, ending as Chef de Cuisine.
- Moved into resort housing temporarily during staffing shortages to support the kitchen team.
